For over eleven years now, Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation volunteers and supporters have made it possible for us to provide the greater Sacramento community with free or low cost diagnostic testing, co-pay assistance, breast cancer resources, breast health education and patient advocacy.
The funds to make this happen continue to come from an array of fundraising events that take place all year long. Our ability to serve our community and grow in the services we provide has been made possible by an extremely generous and loyal volunteer base. Albie Aware volunteers make it possible for us to put on one successful event after another.
Here is a message from the Albie Aware Volunteer Coordinator, Nancy Blackburn.
“In 2009 I was asked to help organize volunteers for the Albie Aware event “Blues for Life”. It turned out to be the first of many musical extravaganzas for which I requested help from many Albie Aware volunteers. Since then I agreed to organize volunteers for many more of the ever increasing number of Health Fairs, Fundraising Events and Volunteer Appreciation dinners. In October 2014 alone Albie Aware hosted or participated in over a dozen large and small events!
It has been remarkable to see how many people want to volunteer for a local breast cancer foundation. I think it is because they know the money raised will go to help women and men in their own community. And that means something.
So, as we enter 2015, we look forward to the many events where we will need volunteers to help us at merchandise or information tables, ticket booths, setting up and tearing down events, soliciting raffle items and grand prizes, waiting tables, joining an event committee, and so much more.
If you are a current volunteer and have recently moved, changed your email address or phone number, please let me know. If I haven’t called on you yet, and you want to volunteer, let me know that too.
Finally, if you would like to volunteer, please print, complete and send me the Volunteer form.
Thank you!! We couldn’t survive without your help.”
